Premised on the philosophy that schools, parents, youth and the community must work together to create media-literate children, who practice the skills of digital citizenship, our programs build an understanding of the role media plays in today’s society. Our staff teaches youth about multimedia communication through action and motion. This reinforces a variety of 21st century skills including critical thinking, interpersonal communication, collaboration, self-regulation, and group decision-making. Our program goals are to build culturally-competent, digital citezens who will be proficient communicators and form positive relationships with peers throughout their lives.
Today’s Digital Citizens™ (TDC) is an innovative, direct service S.T.E.A.M program that helps students become culturally competent as they practice the skills of digital citizenship. TDC promotes social and emotional learning as students practice and become proficient with the skills of emotional management, empathy, teamwork, responsibility, problem solving, and taking initiative.
Media literacy and cultural competence are central to Today’s Technology and Communication™ (TT&C), a program which teaches children about careers in multimedia production as they work in teams to create Public Service Announcement videos.
Life’s Purpose™ is a youth enrichment program with a focus on social and emotional learning. Through group discussions, mentoring, self-exploration, and collaboration with peers and adults, students determine their purpose and mission in life.
