The Importance of Family Vacations

We’re heading into the 4th of July weekend, one of the busiest times of the year for family vacations. Summer is a perfect time to slow down, take a break, and get out of the house. And whether you’re traveling by plane, train, bus, or automobile– whether you’re going across the country or down the street– we know that family vacations have a strong impact on the entire family unit, especially children.

Vacations large and small create a stronger family bond. They are an opportunity to learn and have fun. They’re also the perfect time to put down your devices and connect with other people. Vacations are shown to reduce stress, increase productivity, and they’re just plain fun!

Due to time or financial restraints, maybe your family doesn’t have time to take a big vacation. But you can still take a trip to see some local sites that educate and entertain. Here are some of our suggestions for sites in Palm Beach County!

Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park: The Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park is a perfect opportunity to get outside and learn more about awesome wildlife!

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center: At the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, you can see loggerhead turtles in various stages of recovery and learn about the life and habits of sea turtles. Best of all: it’s free!

The local beach: In South Florida, we are fortunate to live close to so many incredible beaches. There’s so much to do at the beach, whether it’s hunting for seashells, building sandcastles, or just laying in the sunshine.

Roger Dean Stadium: Roger Dean Stadium is home to the Jupiter Hammerheads, a minor league baseball team associated with the Miami Marlins! Whether you’re there for the love of the game or just getting the stadium experience, it’s an event that is sure to be fun for everyone.

Science Museum: The Science Museum in West Palm Beach provides an air-conditioned opportunity to learn about everything from dinosaurs to the human body to the Florida Everglades! They even have an outdoor trail with lots of fun, interactive stops!

Family vacations are always filled with a bit of magic simply because you are together. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by; take a break, get outside, and go on an adventure! You never know where it will take you.

It’s great that you mentioned how vacations are shown to reduce stress, increase productivity, and they’re just plain fun. It’s been a while since my family went on a vacation so I am thinking of organizing one for the end of next month. Just relaxing and taking a vacation cabin for rent sounds like a really great way to pass the time, so I’ll try to suggest that to my family.
